For competitors age 15 and older, CBC attempts to follow the
IBU competition specifications for Youth Men and Women (age 15-18),
Junior Men and Women (age 19-21),
and Men and Women (age 22 and older). For additional details, refer
to the IBU "Event and Competition Rules" on the
IBU web site.
For competitors under the age of 15, CBC follows guidelines
originally published by USBA with
adjustments for local circumstances, as noted on the linked PDF.
Additionally, CBC applies some local rules for .22 use (see "CBC-specific notes" below).
CBC Masters competitions follow the
USBA Masters Guidelines.
CBC-specific notes:
-
All competitors under the age of 11 use pellet rifles and 10 meter targets.
-
Competitors age 11-12 who have their own .22 rifle, may race using a .22 rifle.
-
Competitors using club .22 rifles must be 13 as of December 31 of the current winter
competition season (November through March of the following year).
- CBC events typically offer a single Under 13 category, although
event organizers have the option of providing a separate Under 11
age group in the results.
Only the combined U13 category is offered for each gender for
the State Championships.
- Only a 150m penalty loop is available at the Snow Mountain Ranch venue, so
the shorter penalty loops indicated for some formats are purely academic
at SMR events (all competitors ski 150m penalty loops).
